permanently boosted capacity on what was already Atlanta’s fastest
LTE network by up to 8x ahead of Super Bowl LIII.

pouring into the city for the big game, and the big crowds need to

in or comes to Atlanta for the big game and beyond.

“T-Mobile was already fastest in Atlanta, and now T-Mobile
customers get even more speed and better coverage than before.
We’ve made sure our customers will have an incredible mobile
experience on game day, whether they’re watching from the stands or
across the city,” said Neville Ray, Chief Technology Officer at
T-Mobile. “And at the same time we’re making these permanent
upgrades that will continue to serve Atlanta long beyond the Super
Bowl, we’re also laying a foundation for 5G.”
T-Mobile permanently increased network capacity and coverage
where the biggest crowds are expected, including Mercedes-Benz
Stadium, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, key
hotels throughout the city, along transit routes and at dozens of
Super Bowl event venues like Cobb Galleria, Centennial Olympic
Park, Georgia World Congress Center and State Farm Arena. The
Un-carrier also doubled LTE capacity at SunTrust Park and enhanced
the network throughout Midtown, Downtown and around the stadium and
tailgate areas so fans can stream, tweet, post and chat all they
want.
To enhance indoor coverage and speed at key venues throughout
the city, T-Mobile deployed more than 300 small cells -- most
enabled with License Assisted Access (LAA), an LTE–Advanced
technology that delivers more capacity and speed -- and 20 new
Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). Mercedes-Benz Stadium was
updated with the highest capacity DAS on T-Mobile’s network, with
50% more capacity than the next largest stadium, and the
Un-carrier’s first outdoor C-RAN system in the tailgating and
events areas. C-RAN technology improves network performance in high
traffic scenarios, and even helps extend smartphone battery life,
so fans can follow and share game day updates without needing to
plug in.
While football fans in Atlanta take advantage of T-Mobile’s
kick-ass LTE network, they’re invited to see what the future of
wireless has to offer as well. T-Mobile’s Future of Wireless Truck
will be parked at 302 Ted Turner Drive Northwest – just a short
walk from Centennial Olympic Park – from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET
Thursday, January 31 through Sunday, February 3. Packed full of
real world demonstrations and hands-on interactive experiences, the
Future of Wireless Truck brings technology like 5G and supercharged
IoT to life.
