Trunity Holdings, a provider of eLearning content and solutions, announced that environmental scientists Drs. Robert K. Kaufmann and Cutler J. Cleveland have authored their textbook, Environmental Science, and delivered their course Introduction to Environmental Science at Boston University using Trunity’s education solution.
Trunity’s virtual platform allows educators a variety of authoring capabilities, including the ability to establish a curriculum; create and deliver course-related content, including embedding video, high resolution image galleries, and graphics; and monitor students’ progress.
Students can access the course material via iPad, tablet, PC, smartphone, or any browser-based connected device. The virtual textbook enhances learning opportunities with features such as an integrated glossary, where the student can retrieve the definition of relevant terms in-line by clicking the term.
Utilizing the system’s built-in navigation, students can browse between pages and chapters. Trunity also has built-in forum capabilities, which enables students and teachers to collaborate with one another in instructor-moderated forums.
“It’s exciting to be able to author my book with an industry leader like Trunity,” Dr. Cleveland stated in the press release. “The students are more engaged with the course material because it is up-to-date and interactive – and the integrated social networking capability helps students collaborate with each other based on the course material. Leveraging the Web this way is really taking a 21st century approach to learning.”
In addition to virtual textbooks, the Trunity platform provides extended course content, learning management capabilities, and social collaboration tools.
