                        Trinity Mirror plc: Board change


Trinity Mirror plc announces today that Roger Harrison, non-executive director,
having reached his 70th birthday has decided to retire at the Annual General
Meeting on 8th May 2003.


Roger joined the Board in 1991. He is a director of Sterling Publishing plc and
was previously Deputy Chairman of Capital Radio plc, a director of LWT and Chief
Executive of the Observer.


Chairman Sir Victor Blank said: "Roger has given enormous service to the company
which has benefited from his extensive knowledge of media and, in particular,
newspaper publishing. We fully understand his desire to step down from the Board
but will miss his incisive thoughts and commitment."
