       ATLANTIC COMPLETES SALE OF UK INDIRECT RESIDENTIAL BUSINESS TO AFFINITY

                                                                 9 August 2001

Atlantic Telecom Group PLC ('Atlantic') confirms today that the sale of its UK
indirect residential business to Affinity Wireless Ltd, notified on 3rd August
2001, has been successfully completed.

Under the terms of the agreement, Atlantic has received a consideration of 
#1.8 million in cash. Atlantic will continue to carry the telecommunications
traffic on its networks under a wholesale arrangement, resulting in
anticipated revenues to Atlantic of approximately #16 million over the next 12
months.

Graham J Duncan, Executive Chairman of Atlantic said: "I am delighted to have
concluded a transaction which means that this traffic will make a positive
financial contribution to Atlantic. We look forward to working with Affinity
in the future."
