                 ATLANTIC TELECOM AWARDED NEW LICENCE
                             IN YORKSHIRE

Atlantic   Telecommunications  Limited,   a   wholly   owned
subsidiary  of  Atlantic Telecom Group PLC ("Atlantic")  is
pleased  to  announce that it has been awarded a licence  to
provide  fixed radio access services ("FRA") in  the  2.4Ghz
band in substantially the whole of Yorkshire, excluding  the
former East Riding of Yorkshire.

The  award  follows  on from the successful  award  of  five
licences  earlier  this year to provide  services  in  other
densely  populated  regions of  England.   Atlantic  was  in
competition in Yorkshire with Kingston Communications, which
has  been awarded an FRA licence in the former East  Riding,
covering the city of Hull and its environs.

Commenting, Graham J Duncan, Executive Chairman of  Atlantic
stated

"We  are delighted at this award.  The area covered by  the
new  licences  encapsulates the important cities  of  Leeds,
Bradford  and  Sheffield and is the area that we  originally
envisaged  to provide service.  We look forward to providing
