Wheatley Housing Group announces completion of constitutional partnership with Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership

Wheatley Housing Group today announced the completion of the constitutional partnership with Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership ("DGHP"), a Registered Social Landlord with approximately 10,300 properties in the south-west of Scotland. This means Wheatley's subsidiaries together now own or manage 93,102 homes and operate across 18 local authority areas in Scotland.

Following a ballot of DGHP's tenants, where a resounding 95.5% were in favour of the proposals on a 75.2% turnout, an Extraordinary General Meeting of its members was held on 12th December 2019 where final approval was given to enter into the partnership. DGHP will retain its name and identity with a local Board and full responsibility for homes in Dumfries and Galloway.

Through sharing resources and expertise, the partnership will provide DGHP tenants with additional investment to their homes, an improved repairs and maintenance service and the commencement of a new-build programme providing additional homes across the region. The Wheatley Modern Apprenticeship scheme will be expanded to Dumfries and Galloway communities, providing opportunities for young people to gain experience and vocational qualifications, supporting them into employment.
