MAN Truck & Bus SE said Monday that it is restarting truck
production this week after disruptions due to the war in
Ukraine.
The commercial-vehicles maker, which is owned by Traton SE, said
truck production at plants in Munich and Krakow were halted since
mid-March due to supply crunches. It is also ramping up production
at component plants in Nuremberg and Salzgitter again, it said.
The company said its suppliers of wiring harnesses in Ukraine
are able to produce and deliver again at a low level.
"Production remains subject to major uncertainties. If the war
shifts more strongly to western Ukraine again, we may be faced with
a renewed standstill," said the company's chief executive Alexander
Vlaskamp.
The truck maker will continue to use short-time working at its
site in Germany due to the reduced production, it said.
"Flexibility is and remains the order of the day, as is strict
cost discipline", said Mr. Vlaskamp.
