Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (RR.LN) said Wednesday that it now expects to have new parts for the overhaul of its Trent 1000 Package C engines available in late 2018 rather than in 2019, as it originally anticipated.

Turbine blades and compressors in the engines haven't lasted as long as expected, requiring more checks to take place. A number of airlines, including Britain's Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd., Japan's All Nippon Airways Co. and Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA (NAS.OS) have had to ground planes as previous checks were carried out.

Rolls-Royce said that since April, it has been able to triple the number of affected engines it can work on at any point, and it is speeding up the development of a permanent fix for issues seen on the Package C engines.
