O2 Secure Wireless, Inc. Announces Earthcom Service Inc.'s Entrance Strategy Into the Dominican Republic
July 02 2010 - 8:03AM
O2 Secure Wireless, Inc. (Pink Sheets:OTOW) is pleased to announce
that through its subsidiary, Earthcom Service Inc., the Company has
entered into the Dominican marketplace and currently maintains
assets in the country as the company secures its coverage
objective.
There have been recent increasing reports of continual down time
and service unreliability in the Dominican cellular services
market. Earthcom believes that these conditions are favorable to
its strategy of gaining market share by initially penetrating the
cellular market and introducing other services, such as wireless
cable, internet, and home telephone, as its coverage area continues
to expand. According to the Company's strategy, it is expected that
there will be a high demand for Earthcom's services in light of
these current conditions.
As reported on DR1.com, the Dominican Telecommunications
Institute (Indotel) has warned that the quality of cell phone
services in the Dominican Republic is declining. Jose Rafael
Vargas, president of Indotel, said, "The office plans to conduct an
in-depth study with foreign consultants to examine the quality of
mobile communications and the Internet networks to establish what
actions and corrections are needed to be made, as reported in Hoy."
The report continues: "Vargas, who has been elected as senator for
Espaillat (Moca), warned that there has been deterioration in the
country's mobile services. He made the comment when calling it 'one
of the dark points' in the celebration of the 15 years of Internet
service in the DR."
"We have gone from having one of the best communication networks
to one of the worst communication networks; that is the threat, and
the great challenge, that is the dark side of what we celebrate
today," stated Jose Rafael Vargas, president of Indotel. He
continued by commenting that the decline in the quality of the
service threatens competitiveness.
Recently, Andres Vanderhorst, executive director of the National
Competitiveness Council, has also warned that the country's
business sector is suffering because many companies depend on
quality communications and this had been part of the national
competitiveness strategy until the decline in quality that is now
raising concerns. "The DR is suffering from a serious problem
in the quality of its mobile services that threaten the
competitiveness of the country in its whole," Andres Vanderhorst
stated during his keynote speech at a cocktail reception at the
Hotel Jaragua to celebrate the anniversary of the arrival of the
Internet to the country.
