VMS Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE: VMS) ("VMS") is pleased to announce that it has received, from HudBay Minerals Inc. (TSX: HBM), the payment required under the Reed Lake joint venture agreement and the initial payments under the four property option agreements with HudBay that were announced July 6, 2010. The payments received by VMS total $2.85 million.

The payments were made by HudBay following VMS' confirmation that certain mineral claims under the joint venture and option agreements have been put into good standing under applicable Manitoba mining law.

Under the joint venture agreement, HudBay has a 70% interest in the copper-rich Reed Lake property and VMS has a 30% interest. For detail on the recently-announced diamond drilling program at Reed Lake, please see VMS' August 10, 2010 press release.
