pleased to announce that their 2018 feature documentary I Am MLK
Jr. is the winner of three 2019 Leo Awards, including Best
Documentary, Best Picture Editing and Best Musical Score.
The Leo Awards, "celebrating excellence in British Columbia film and television", were
announced at the Celebration Awards in Vancouver, British Columbia, May 25 and 26.
I Am MLK Jr. premiered on Paramount Network and was
simulcast on BET on April 4, 2018,
the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King's tragic assassination.
Network also partnered with GATHR to launch a Theatrical On Demand®
release for the feature documentary, allowing audiences to screen
the film in movie theaters across the
United States. International distribution was managed by
FremantleMedia and by Thunderbird in Canada; the film is available for viewing in
Canada on HBO Canada and
CraveTV.
The documentary tells the story and celebrates the life of this
American icon from an engaging contemporary perspective structured
around seminal events of the Civil Rights Movement, and features
interviews with a uniquely diverse group of key figures, ranging
from history-changing civil rights-era activists such as Rev.
Jesse Jackson, Ambassador
Andrew Young, Congressman
John Lewis, and Rev. Al Sharpton, to contemporary writers, activists
and influencers in sports, entertainment and media such as
Van Jones, Carmelo Anthony, Nick
