VANCOUVER, Oct. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - GOLDCORP
INC. (TSX: G, NYSE: GG) announced today a work stoppage
by miners represented by the Asociacion Obrera Minera Argentina,
Province of Santa Cruz delegation
at the Cerro Negro mine. A comprehensive contingency plan is
in place during this shutdown of operations that will enable mining
and processing to be restarted immediately following the return of
the workforce. Our focus is on personnel safety, environmental
protection and full permit compliance.
The work stoppage began on September 30,
2015. The Company is seeking support from the Ministry of
Labour at the federal level to request a conciliation period of
fifteen working days during which time the parties would expect to
negotiate and work towards a resolution. Assuming the request is
granted, the workers would be expected to resume work in short
order while the parties meet. Goldcorp is committed to working
cooperatively with employee representatives and government
officials to resolve this dispute quickly.
