LONDON--Consumer goods giant Unilever PLC (ULVR.LN) Friday said
it has received an adverse judgement in a tax case in Brazil.
Unilever, whose brands include Dove soap and Ben & Jerry's
ice cream, didn't give details of the judgement, but said it has
paid a deposit of 590 million euros ($625 million) to the court
because this will reduce any fine it has to pay.
"We still believe our case remains strong," the company.
Shares at 1138 GMT were up 46 pence, or 1.5%, at 3,166 pence,
valuing the company at GBP40.63 billion.
