Sempra Energy said its profit fell for the fourth quarter, though revenue increased.

The energy company on Thursday posted net income of $482 million, or $1.55 a share, compared with $900 million, or $3.03 a share in the comparable quarter last year. Adjusted earnings were $1.55 a share.

Analysts polled by FactSet were looking for earnings of $1.52 a share, or $1.48 a share on an adjusted basis.

Revenue for the quarter rose to $2.94 billion from $2.83 billion in the prior year. Analysts polled by FactSet were looking for $3.6 billion.
