Kongregate and Disruptor Beam, Inc. have announced a publishing
partnership for the upcoming mobile release of Game of Thrones
Ascent, the first-ever social game based on the award-winning HBO®
show and literary works of George R.R. Martin. Building upon their
existing relationship surrounding the web version of Game of
Thrones Ascent, Kongregate and Disruptor Beam will now continue to
collaborate on the iOS version and subsequent release on
Android.
“Since the early stages of the game’s development, our intention
was always to release Game of Thrones Ascent on mobile devices,”
said chief executive officer & founder of Disruptor Beam Jon
Radoff, “Now that we have had great success growing users and
revenue across web platforms, we are excited to be bringing the
game to mobile players. That’s what we’ve seen first-hand with
Kongregate, and why we are excited about partnering with them for
our mobile release, continuing to build upon this vast and
passionate community of players.”
It has been a similarly busy period for Kongregate since the web
gaming giant announced a mobile publishing program in 2013. Since
its inception, Kongregate’s mobile games have been downloaded
approximately seven million times and have generated in excess of
90 million gameplays.
“Kongregate only works with select mobile developers,” said Pany
Haritatos, Kongregate’s vice president of mobile. “The agility and
skills of the developer team is often as important as the game
itself, and Disruptor Beam certainly has these qualities. The
Kongregate platform is a community of enthusiastic and
knowledgeable gamers who look for depth and quality in the games
they play. The success of the web version of Game of Thrones Ascent
on Kongregate has revealed the tremendous depth of content, game
mechanics, replay ability and authenticity that Disruptor Beam has
worked hard to enhance even more in the upcoming mobile version.”
Kongregate mobile games have received six major unique app store
features to-date that have generated millions of installs,
including the No. 1 position as a Google Play Store feature app
during Christmas week 2013.
In addition to Disruptor Beam’s own marketing efforts
surrounding Game of Thrones Ascent mobile, the game will also be
promoted across the Kongregate and GameStop digital networks that
reach more than 50 million core gamers. Kongregate and Disruptor
Beam will also collaborate on production, analytics, and app store
relations.
Game of Thrones Ascent on the web was one of the most popular
web games of 2013. The game boasts in excess of two million players
and was also named a 2013 “Facebook Staff Favorite Game of the
Year” and carries at least a four-star rating across multiple
gaming platforms. The game has also been played in excess of 10
million times on Kongregate’s web portal, making it one of the most
played games on Kongregate’s web platform in 2013.
Game of Thrones Ascent for mobile is slated to be released in
early spring 2014. Other games coming soon from Kongregate mobile
include Lionheart Tactics, Tiny Dice Dungeon, and Epic Skater.
