Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV) said Thursday it was removing Boeing Co.'s (BA) 737 MAX from its flight schedule through June 6.

The airline had previously removed MAX aircraft from its schedule through April 13. It pushed the schedule back further based on continued uncertainty around when the MAX will return to service.

"Southwest Airlines continues to monitor information from Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration on the impending 737 MAX software enhancements and training requirements," the company said in a statement on its website. "We remain confident that, once certified by the FAA, the enhancements will support the safe operation of the MAX."

Regulators around the world grounded the MAX last year following two crashes of the plane that resulted in the death of 346 people.
