Ameriprise Financial Inc. (AMP) reported an 8% increase in net income in the latest quarter as net revenue ticked up.

The wealth management firm reported net income for its third quarter of $543 million, or $4.04 a share, compared with $503 million, or $3.43 a share, a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings were $4.12 a share, ahead of the $4.09 a share analysts polled by FactSet expected.

Total revenue was $3.35 billion, up 1% from $3.32 billion a year earlier.
