One of Canada's Largest Business-Solutions Providers to Use QUOVADX Integration Technology to Enable Clinical Interoperability among Physician Offices, Hospitals and Regional Health Networks Quovadx, Inc. (Nasdaq: QVDX), a global software and vertical solution company, today announced that the Integration Solutions division (ISD) of the Company has entered into a partnership agreement with xwave, a Division of Bell Aliant (TSX: BA.UN), to facilitate the real-time transfer of healthcare information between institutional Canadian healthcare systems and primary-care physicians. "Expanding healthcare-system connectivity to include physician offices is the next step in improving patient care," said Mike Epplen, vice president, Product Management, Integration Solutions division, Quovadx. "Our partnership with xwave will enable us to take that step in Canada, cost-effectively extending interoperability beyond established clinical systems and facilitating the exchange of data with primary physicians -- ultimately improving the delivery of patient care." Under the scope of the agreement, xwave and ISD will jointly enable the sharing of clinical data using the QUOVADX(TM) MD Office Gateway solution in conjunction with the QUOVADX Cloverleaf(R) Integration Suite. MD Office Gateway allows physician practices and satellite offices to connect to external stakeholders such as hospitals, labs, pharmacies and other doctors. The solution also enables the relay and receipt of information to and from medical devices that are capable of generating clinical data. Cloverleaf technology integrates different healthcare applications and enables real-time sharing of data among them, supporting an effective information exchange throughout the healthcare organization and its various IT systems. xwave will build the interfaces that connect these systems with the Cloverleaf infrastructure, thereby making them accessible to MD Gateway users. xwave will also market the MD Office Gateway solution in Canada via the firm's extensive healthcare-practitioner base. Through MD Office Gateway, xwave will provide physicians with a robust, integrated system that requires minimal hardware and that facilitates the automatic update of patient data through a hospital or province-wide electronic medical record. "Interoperability is fundamental to the successful adoption and use of healthcare IT," said Gary Folker, managing director, Clinical Management System, xwave. "If we are to fully take advantage of our collective investments in information technology, we must effectively connect the information-keepers with one another. The QUOVADX solution enables that connectivity: It supports all aspects of clinical interoperability; it complies with multiple hardware and software vendors; and, within the Cloverleaf Integration Suite, it supports a wide range of healthcare standards."
