/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northwest Airlines (NASDAQ:NWAC) today
announced new service between Flint, Mich. and Las Vegas beginning
Aug. 20. The new service will be operated with the Airbus A319
aircraft, featuring the widest cabin in its class, with 16 seats in
first class and 108 seats in coach class. "We are pleased to offer
new, nonstop service between Flint, our third- largest Michigan
market, and Las Vegas," said Tom Bach, vice president of network
planning & revenue management. "Northwest has been a key
service provider to Flint for many years, and this new Las Vegas
service builds upon our existing flights from Flint to four other

including airfare, more than 35 hotel properties, rental cars, and
optional activities such as concert and event tickets, sightseeing
tours, golf and spa services. "From world-class dining and
nightlife to the year's top concerts and events, there's something
for everyone in Las Vegas," said Jim Cron, vice president-passenger
marketing and sales and CEO of WorldVacations. "WorldVacations
offers a wide selection of hotels and activities to enhance the
experience." Northwest offers more daily departures (up to 11) and
carries more passengers from Flint than any other airline. The new
service to Las Vegas will complement the seven daily flights
Northwest currently offers between Flint and its Detroit hub, and
the two daily flights between Flint and the carrier's
Minneapolis/St. Paul hub. Northwest also provides seasonal daily
service from Flint to both Orlando, Fla., and Tampa, Fla., from
Dec. 15 to April 30, and weekly Saturday service to those cities
the rest of the year. "Northwest Airlines' new nonstop service
between Flint and Las Vegas will bring valuable economic benefits
to Genesee County and surrounding communities," Congressman Dale E.
Kildee (D-Mich.) said. "The expansion of nonstop service to and
from Las Vegas, one of America's fastest growing metropolitan
areas, is a tremendous sign of growth for Flint and Bishop Airport,
and is critical to the region's economic development." Customers
holding tickets for travel Aug. 20 and beyond on connecting
itineraries from Flint to Las Vegas will be able to change their
