Newest Pro-Vision® service delivery and
provisioning platform offers advanced orchestration for packet and
optical networks today and the software-driven networks of the
future
MRV Communications™, Inc. (OTCQB: MRVC) (“MRV®”), a leading
provider of innovative packet and optical solutions, today
announced the launch of Pro-Vision® 3.0 service delivery and
provisioning software. Designed to make the user experience more
intuitive and comprehensive, the new Pro-Vision® platform is based
on a HTML5 infrastructure that simplifies and automates the design,
deployment and assurance of next-generation, multi-layer
virtualized networks. Currently being deployed by Tier 1
communications service providers (CSPs), the new Pro-Vision®
software enables substantial OPEX savings in large and complex
nationwide networks. As CSPs of all sizes look for a future path
towards Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions
Virtualization (NFV), MRV is making it easier for them to
accelerate service creation with a more intelligent network
today.
According to an August 2013 study by Credit Suisse, 91% of
enterprises, CSPs and data centers are purchasing networking and
management software to reduce operational expenses, improve
application performance and manage the increased demand for new
services. A network orchestrated with MRV’s Pro-Vision® software
efficiently addresses these issues through automated provisioning,
monitoring and troubleshooting. As the software is built on an open
platform, it can also easily interface with third party
applications as new requirements develop.
“We have seen incredible global demand from CSPs for a highly
scalable and open service delivery solution. MRV is transforming
service delivery infrastructure in order to help our customers
better meet the demands of today’s marketplace,” states John Golub,
vice president of global product line management for MRV
Communications. “The Pro-Vision® platform continues to evolve and
offers the most innovative tools available as our customers migrate
from best-effort performance to SLA-assured, application-driven
services.”
Pro-Vision® software provides end-to-end visibility into service
performance in the packet and optical domains to ensure that
customer SLAs are met. It incorporates flexible real-time data
collection mechanisms capable of polling large numbers of devices
and reporting results based on user-defined thresholds. The
solution also offers web-based tools for comprehensive integration
with existing OSS/BSS systems to streamline the service life
cycle.
Amongst the new features, the Pro-Vision® service orchestration
solution now includes:
- Web-based HTML5 graphical environment
to streamline and automate the provisioning and management of
optical and packet services.
- Management of optical transport
equipment – 100G muxponders, high-density optical transport and
multi-degree ROADMs – including MRV’s new OptiDriver™ optical
transport platform.
- Monitoring and reporting of application
performance based on the latest standards, including Metro Ethernet
Forum (MEF) SOAM.
