FORT WORTH, Texas, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Elbit Systems of America, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd.,
has a rich history of supporting our aviators through the
integration of mission processors and cockpit upgrades. Continuing
this commitment of providing innovative solutions for the safety of
our military men and women, Elbit is extending its support by
adopting the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE™)
Consortium's standards into its research and development efforts as
well as new software development programs.
Established in 2010, the FACE™ Consortium was created to enhance
interoperability and software portability for avionics software
being used across DoD platforms. The standardization of the
software hosting environment promotes integration of new software
and rapid portable capabilities. Through the combined efforts of
the US military, industry leaders, and educational institutions,
the FACE Consortium sets a new standard for software
development.
As a founding member of FACE, Elbit recognized the need for the
quicker development of capabilities and a faster delivery of final
products to our warfighters.
"We know the threats our aviators face are ever-changing,"
comments Raanan Horowitz, president
and CEO of Elbit Systems of America. "We are pleased to support the
FACE Consortium's groundbreaking efforts to develop a hosting
environment that will allow for much faster integration of new
capabilities. Elbit Systems of America is committed to implementing
the FACE standards into our avionics research and
developmental."
Elbit Systems of America is currently using FACE standards in
research and development as well as incorporating the FACE
standards across several of its existing DoD programs.
"The new FACE blueprint simplifies software development,"
commented Dr. Andrew Hull, Senior
Engineer at Elbit Systems of America. "With the ability to easily
use our software on multiple platforms, we are can offer affordable
solutions to our customers. Furthermore, the standardization of the
hosting environment sets the foundation for a system that is more
