Comcast Wins 2 Contracts From U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency

Comcast Corp. said its Comcast Government Services division has
been awarded two additional multimillion dollar contracts by the
U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency as part of the agency's
effort to replace legacy circuits across the country with
Ethernet-based services.
The company said the contracts represent $84.2 million and $71.6
million up to ten years. Comcast has now won four of the seven
Commercial Ethernet Gateway regions for a total of more than $267
million. The Company was awarded a contract in June, and one in
March 2020.
DISA provides, operates, and assures information-sharing
capabilities, command and control solutions and a global enterprise
infrastructure to support the Department of Defense and
national-level leadership. The agency is in a multiphase initiative
to replace 17,000 point-to-point public switched telephone circuits
with Ethernet-based services across the continental U.S. to enhance
connectivity, improve network performance and reduce overall
telecommunications costs.
