Sanofi SA on Wednesday said it plans to invest more than 600
million euros (US$703 million) to build a new manufacturing plant
in Canada aimed at increasing production of its Fluzone flu
vaccine.
The Paris pharmaceutical giant said the new plant, which it will
build at its existing site in Toronto, will provide more antigen
and filling capacity for the high-dose influenza vaccine.
Sanofi said the plant, which it expects to be operational in
2026, will help increase availability of Fluzone in Canada, the
U.S. and Europe. The company currently produces the vaccine
exclusively at its plant in Swiftwater, Pa.
