Dow Jones News
French hotels group Accor SA (AC.FR) Wednesday said it opened 41
new hotels in the Asia Pacific region and signed over 70
development contracts in 2010, a record number of new contracts for
a single year for the company.
MAIN FACTS:
- Accor is focused on expansion in the region including in the
key markets of China and India and further into markets where Accor
is already the market leader such as Indonesia, Thailand and
Vietnam.
- Accor is making selective investments in economy range hotels,
and in China and India, and focusing on management contracts
throughout most other markets, said Michael Issenberg, Accor's Asia
Pacific chief operating officer.
- In the mature hotel market of Australia, the company is
predominantly expanding through a franchise strategy, Issenberg
added.
