          Merant to Announce Second Quarter Financial Results

Merant (LSE:MRN) (Nasdaq:MRNT), a leading provider of software and

business-critical assets, will announce results for the second quarter
ended October 31, 2003 on December 2, 2003 at 7:00 a.m. (UK) / 2:00
a.m. (Eastern) / 11:00 p.m., December 1, 2003 (Pacific).

Management will host a conference call later in the day on December 2.
