Infection Prevention Solutions Company Joins
APIC to Celebrate Healthcare Heroes
Nanosonics (ASX: NAN), a leader in infection prevention
solutions, today announced the launch of the trophon®2 Giveback
Giveaway in honor of International Infection Prevention Week. With
almost $300,000 in prizes, healthcare facilities can enter for a
chance to win one of 14 prize packages, each worth nearly
$20,000. The company is joining together with the Association
for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) as a
corporate champion for International Infection Prevention Week
(IIPW), October 18-24.
“This year, in particular, has put infection prevention on the
global stage and a spotlight on protecting public health,” said Ken
Shaw, Regional president for the United States, Canada and Latin
America for Nanosonics. “We want to honor those on the front lines
of infection control. We recognize the fundamental role infection
preventionists and health care providers play in our public health,
and we value their diligent efforts to keep patients and medical
staff safe, which is why we want to further support their hard work
in bringing the highest standards of care to their facilities.”
In recognition of International Infection Prevention Week,
Nanosonics is giving back. From October 18 -31, 2020, healthcare
facilities can enter to win a trophon2 prize package, which
includes a trophon2 with a one-year standard warranty, accessories
and consumables, in-person service and training, and a clinical
site assessment. A total of 14 winners will be selected in November
2020.
Proper ultrasound probe reprocessing can help diminish the risk
of probe cross-contamination. According to an alert from The Joint
Commission, 74% of all “immediate threats to life” were from
improperly sterilized or high level disinfected equipment.1
Nanosonics’ trophon2 can help reduce the risk of ultrasound probe
related cross infection, offering effective bactericidal,
fungicidal, virucidal and mycobactericidal protection# while
ensuring that high level disinfection (HLD) is performed accurately
and consistently. trophon is the first HLD system in the world
proven to kill native, infectious, high-risk HPV.2 The device
supports compliance with the latest guidelines and minimizes staff
exposure to hazardous chemicals, fumes and spills.
“We are happy to have the support of Nanosonics for IIPW,” said
APIC President Connie Steed, MSN, RN, CIC, FAPIC. “APIC welcomes
the healthcare companies who have joined International Infection
Prevention Week as Corporate Champions. Through IIPW, we reach
healthcare professionals and patients with lifesaving information
about infection prevention and the importance of infection
preventionists.”
IIPW is an annual awareness campaign to stimulate interest in
and highlight the importance of infection prevention. As countries
continue to fight against a global pandemic, COVID-19 has shown the
world how crucial infection prevention and IPs truly are in keeping
our communities safe. In recognition of the infection prevention
and control community, the 2020 IIPW theme is “We Love IPs.”
The trophon* franchise is fast becoming the global standard of
care in providing failsafe ultrasound probe reprocessing to protect
patients from the risk of cross contamination. With almost 24,000
trophon systems installed worldwide, protecting approximately 20
million patients from the risk of ultrasound probe
cross-contamination annually, trophon is transforming high-level
disinfection.
