Ryanair's Yield Outlook Looks Cautious Against Peers

0830 GMT - Compared with its peers, Ryanair appears cautious with its yield outlook--the amount earned per passenger mile--with 1Q traffic needing pricing stimulation and summer-peak yields seen somewhat about 2019 levels, Johannes Braun and Marc Zeck, analysts at Stifel say in a research note. Although the analysts expect a strong summer 2022 on pent-up demand, they are skeptical beyond that, and for next year. They say the airline requires next year's yields to rise by about 30% to 35% above prepandemic levels to compensate for a higher fuel bill as favorable hedging ends. Ryanair is only 10% hedged for FY 2023 1H, which they see as unrealistic given its aggressive capacity growth and next year's demand headwinds. Stifel rates the stock hold. Market Talk:

Lowered War Losses Could Bring a Positive Outlook to Insurers

0845 GMT - Reported claims related to the war in Ukraine have so far been limited, which could lead to lower risk of capitalization buffer in the U.K. insurance sector, analysts from RBC Capital Markets say in a research note. The insurance industry estimates a loss from the war in the $10 billion to $15 billion range, but so far total reported war losses have reached $1.3 billion, the analysts say. The sector is set to benefit from a higher interest base rate as it remains above loss and cost trends, although RBC analysts say that some margins could be used to offset inflation risks.
