Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, announced that
15 of its associates recently earned the distinction of board
certification in health care management as Fellows of the American
College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE®). The American College of
Healthcare Executives (ACHE) is one of the leading professional
societies for health care leaders in the nation. The Cerner
associates were recognized at the Convocation Ceremony at the ACHE
2019 Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago.
“Through the certification process, our associates gain a
greater understanding of the challenges and opportunities our
clients are facing in today’s health care landscape,” said Joanne
Burns, senior vice president and chief strategy officer, Cerner.
“Cerner values continuing education and professional development
and this year, I was proud to join my colleagues in earning the
title of ACHE Fellow. As the health care industry evolves,
continuing education for associates is a priority in preparing our
clients for the future of patient care.”
The FACHE credential represents high achievement and standards
of professional development. In total, Cerner has 52 executives who
have been named Fellows of ACHE.
To earn the FACHE credential, candidates must fulfill multiple
requirements, including meeting academic and experiential criteria,
earning continuing education credits, demonstrating professional
and community involvement and passing a comprehensive examination.
Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and
are required to undergo recertification every three years.
“The health care management field plays a vital role in
providing high-quality care to the people in our communities, which
makes having a standard of excellence promoted by a professional
organization critically important,” says Deborah J. Bowen, FACHE,
CAE, president and CEO, ACHE. “By becoming an ACHE Fellow and
earning the distinction of board certification from ACHE, health
care leaders demonstrate a commitment to excellence in serving
