Company Intends to Promote Active Copper
Interconnects for Current and Future Data Center
Applications
Spectra7 Microsystems Inc. (TSX:SEV) (“Spectra7” or the
“Company”), a leading provider of high-performance analog
semiconductor products for broadband connectivity markets, today
announced that it has joined the Ethernet Alliance, global industry
consortium dedicated to the continued success and advancement of
Ethernet technologies.
The rapid increase in demand for bandwidth is pushing Ethernet
technology innovation faster than ever before. As the leading
industry voice for Ethernet, the Ethernet Alliance remains
committed to its global mission of supporting the technology’s
continued expansion and multivendor interoperability.
Spectra7’s GaugeChangerTM technology is an innovative and
disruptive technology that allows copper to extend much longer
lengths without the cost and power penalty of optics. It works
equally well at 25Gbps NRZ and 50Gbps PAM4 supporting Ethernet
standards of 25/50/100/200/400 Gbps.
“Ethernet’s landscape has evolved to encompass a broad array of
rates ranging up to 400G, the common thread linking all of these
together is Ethernet’s uncompromised interoperability,” said John
D’Ambrosia, chairman, Ethernet Alliance; “When the Ethernet
ecosystem works together to deliver on this promise of multivendor
interoperability, we all win. We welcome Spectra7 and look forward
to its active participation as an Ethernet Alliance member.”
“Cables using our GaugeChangerTM technology offer significant
cost, size and energy consumption value to the Ethernet community,”
said Spectra7 CEO Raouf Halim. “We are joining the Ethernet
Alliance to help educate its members and the broader Ethernet
community about our active copper cable solutions. We have already
begun engagements with several new potential customers in the short
time we have been members."
