The public can vote for their favourite
washroom now through Aug. 17
Wild wallpaper, shiny stalls, and marvelous modern mirrors – the
five finalists for this year’s Canada’s Best Restroom® contest have
it all! Hosted by Cintas Canada, Ltd., the contest aims to shine a
spotlight on public washrooms across the country that go above and
beyond to provide unique and clean facilities for guests. The
public is invited to vote for their favourite washroom at
www.bestrestroom.com/canada, now through Aug. 17.
“From restaurants to education centres to malls and even car
dealerships, this year’s finalists showcase the best of the best in
washroom décor, cleanliness and function,” said Candice Raynsford,
Marketing Manager, Cintas Canada Ltd. “Our contest celebrates
businesses that go the extra mile to improve customer satisfaction
by maintaining clean, innovative facilities. We’re excited to find
out which washroom will win the public’s heart and be crowned this
year’s winner!”
The 2018 finalists for the Cintas Canada’s Best Restroom®
contest include:
1. Anh and Chi – Vancouver, British Columbia
Anh and Chi’s gender-neutral washroom
transports guests to a tropical rainforest with its iconic
Martinique wallpaper, mirroring Vietnam’s lush jungles. The wooden
cabinets, custom made doors and gold Kohler faucets warm the sleek
cement communal sink that extends the length of the room. Within
the stalls, guests are met with a private, fully enclosed and
luxurious getaway – candle and aroma reeds included. Inspired by
tradition and modernity, the unique light fixtures by Cedar &
Moss and smoky mirrors within the washroom accent the restaurant’s
design and warm atmosphere.
2. Erin Mills Town Centre – Mississauga,
Ontario
As part of its $100 million renovation, the
new Erin Mills Town Centre facilities were designed and built to be
fully AODA compliant, allowing complete accessibility for all. The
washrooms feature adequate space for those requiring assistive
devices and/or personal assistance and include a spacious nursing
room. Colourful flowers and mosaic art complement the sleek, crisp
white Corian and warm Jatoba wood tones. The final touch is the
eye-catching ceiling light cove, giving these washrooms a bright
and airy ambiance that mimics natural lighting.
3. Oretta – Toronto, Ontario
Upon entering Oretta, guests are met with
art-deco-inspired zig-zag patterned walls and floors, sky-high
arched ceilings and a pink and gold wall installation. Atop
Oretta’s elaborate golden staircase, visitors will find a long
hallway with dark blue doors, leading them to private washrooms
that alternate in color, from white and gold to black and gold.
Each facility features sleek marble tiled walls, modern fixtures
and a globe light. The oval mirror, bright lighting and décor make
these washrooms the perfect space for Instagram enthusiasts to snap
an artistic after-dinner selfie.
4. Saskatchewan Science Centre – Regina,
Saskatchewan
Immersive, engaging and educational – the
Saskatchewan Science Centre washrooms are an extension of its
entertaining exhibits and respond to the call of nature with… the
call of nature! The concept of an “outhouse in the woods” was
created through the use of floor, wall and ceiling visuals as well
as an audio soundtrack which transports visitors to the boreal
forests of Saskatchewan. The washrooms mimic the act of stepping
into another world where you can do your business amid the sights
and sounds of nature – without having to worry about bears.
5. St. Albert Honda – St. Albert, Alberta
The St. Albert Honda washrooms feature an
accent wall intended to represent the revolutions per minute (RPM)
meter in a vehicle and the redline effect. The revving restrooms
promote convenience and cleanliness with specialty fixtures, such
as touchless faucets, soap dispensers, hand dryers, towel
dispensers, automatic air fresheners and deluxe baby change
stations in both female and male washrooms. The hands-free
“stepNpull” door opener ensures contact with door handle germs is
avoided when exiting the washrooms. Once outside, guests can use a
conveniently located touchless hand sanitizer for an added touch of
cleanliness.
The five finalists were selected based on cleanliness, visual
appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. The
winner will receive the royal restroom treatment from Cintas with
$2,500 in facility services to help keep their restrooms Ready
for the Workday®.
Last year’s winner, the Bayview Shopping Centre in Toronto,
Ontario, took the crown for its elegant chandeliers and stylish
nursing room, equipped with a changing station, sink and cushioned
chairs.
