Aquantia Showcases Thunderbolt™ 3 Solutions for
PC and Apple Ecosystems at CES
Aquantia Corp., (NYSE: AQ), a leader in high-speed,
Multi-Gigabit Ethernet connectivity solutions, today announced that
the company will be showcasing a select suite of Thunderbolt™ 3
solutions to Multi-Gig Ethernet adaptors for PCs and MACs,
featuring Aquantia AQtion Ethernet Controllers, at CES 2018. For
the first time, road warriors with thin, light laptops will be able
to experience true Multi-Gig connectivity by using one of these
adapters to connect to a local high-performance Multi-Gigabit
network.
“The availability of devices delivering Thunderbolt 3 to
Multi-Gig connectivity with our AQtion controller is an important
milestone for enabling the mobile workforce,” said Kamal Dalmia,
Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Aquantia. “Data
hungry businesses need to balance the practicality of thinner,
lighter laptops for their increasingly mobile workforces with the
functionality employees need on the road, working at home or even
in their own office. These new adaptors provide that
flexibility.”
At CES Aquantia will be demonstrating:
- Promise Technology’s Thunderbolt 3 to
10GbE Ethernet adaptor based on the AQtion AQC107. For more
information visit www.promise.com.
- The Caldigit Thunderbolt 3 to 10GbE
Ethernet adaptor based on the AQtion AQC107. For more information
visit www.caldigit.com.
With these new Aquantia-based Thunderbolt 3 to Ethernet
Adaptors, users can connect to Multi-Gig networks, quickly access
data in the cloud, and seamlessly enable small workgroups with
shared storage. Small and compact, these Thunderbolt adapters
connect to the Thunderbolt port on the laptop to provide an RJ45
Ethernet port that supports 5GbE and 10GbE networks. It is also
backwards compatible to support legacy 10/100/1000BASE-T networks.
By combining AQtion Ethernet controllers and Thunderbolt 3
technology, which is up to 8x faster than USB3.0, Intel® and
Aquantia are dramatically improving productivity, portability and
connectivity.
About Aquantia AQtion Ethernet Controllers
Compliant to IEEE 802.3bz standard, Aquantia AQtion Ethernet
devices are backward-compatible with legacy 1000BASE-T Ethernet.
The AQtion AQC107 has the added benefit of supporting 10GBASE-T
Ethernet in compliance with the IEEE 802.3an standard. By
supporting PCI Express x4 and x1 versions with a single RJ45 port,
these AQtion based devices can be used to easily upgrade existing
PCs to fully utilize the bandwidth capabilities of modern CPUs and
GPUs.
About Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt™ 3 brings Thunderbolt to USB-C at speeds up to 40
Gb/s, creating one compact port that does it all – delivering the
fastest, most versatile connection to any dock, display, or data
device. For the first time, one computer port connects to
Thunderbolt devices, every display, and billions of USB devices. A
single cable now provides four times the data and twice the video
bandwidth of any other cable, while also supplying power. It’s
unrivaled for new uses, such as 4K video, single-cable docks with
charging, external graphics, and multi-Gb Ethernet networking. To
