seasonings and spices. Under the terms of the agreement with
SeasoningStixs International, Sugarmade will become the first
tester and distributor of a new food science technology and class
of products to season meats, fish and poultry. Sugarmade has
also acquired first rights of refusal for further distribution and
acquisition of the underlying patents.
Sugarmade’s interest in
SeasoningStixs was piqued after CEO, Jimmy Chan, read a 1980s
article from the Los Angeles Times that discussed the lack
of effectiveness of marinades. The article was based on tests
performed by Nicholas Kurti, a famous atomic scientist from Oxford
University and the Manhattan Project, who was also an amateur
foodie and an enthusiastic advocate of applying scientific
knowledge to culinary problems. Professor Kurti showed that
even after 36 hours marinades only penetrate approximately 10 mm
into meat, fish or poultry, thus providing almost no tenderization
and imparting very little flavor into meat, fish or poultry. Many
in the culinary world refer to this as the “Myth of
Marinades”.

Utilizing a sophisticated
patented process and high-tech machinery, SeasoningStixs can be
made from virtually any combination of seasonings or spices, which
are shaped into a hard solid that can be easily inserted directly
into meat, fish or poultry prior to cooking. As heat is
applied during the cooking process, the fibers of the meat begin to
open up as water begins to evaporate. At a predetermined
temperature, SeasoningStixs dissolve completely within the meat
allowing the meat fibers to take up the seasoning and spices in a
similar manner to how water is absorbed by a sponge. Thus,
the meat is seasoned from the inside out imparting fantastic
flavors that had previously been impossible to obtain.
