Abengoa Will Develop Five New Transmission Projects in Chile
December 22 2014 - 5:25AM
- The projects, a transmission line of 87 km and the expansion of
four substations, represent an investment of 40 MUSD.
Abengoa (MCE:ABG.B/P SM) (Nasdaq:ABGB), the international company
that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in
the energy and environment sectors, has been selected by Endesa to
develop a new electric transmission project in southern Chile that
will connect the Hydro Los Cóndores plant with Ancoa
substation.
Abengoa will be responsible for the engineering, supply,
construction, installation, testing and commissioning of the line
of 87 km and 220 kV. The project has an estimated 24-month
execution period and 320 jobs will be created within that
period.
The biggest challenge of this project is the difficult access to
the area where the transmission line will be built, which is
situated in the Séptima Región del Maule mountain range, at an
altitude of 2,000 m above sea level, and at a distance of 150 km
from the nearest village, Talca.
Furthermore, Abengoa has been selected to develop four other
projects for Transelec. The company will be responsible for the
engineering, supply, construction, installation, testing and
commissioning of the expansions of Alto Jahuel, Ancoa, Charrua and
Rahue substations. The project has an estimated 24-month execution
period and 60 jobs will be created within that period.
Abengoa, which has built and put into operation more than 2,500
km of transmission lines in Chile, has become the benchmark company
in the country for this type of projects. In addition, it is
currently developing what will be the first thermosolar plant in
Latin America, located in the Atacama Desert.
