WHITE YOUNG GREEN PLC
CHAIRMANS AGM STATEMENT
At the Annual General Meeting held today of White Young Green
Plc (formerly Ernest Green & Partners Holdings Plc), the
quoted construction services group, Chairman, Gareth Cooper,
made the following statement.
"1997 has seen a period of growth and diversification for the
Group. I am delighted to announce that progress has continued
through the first few months of this financial period to an
extent that we are now ahead of our expectations. Coupled with
the successful merger between Ernest Green and White Young in
July of this year to form White Young Green, we are now
realising the benefits of cost savings through consolidation
driven by a more effective and focused approach to our
businesses.
The Group is benefiting from a more buoyant UK construction
market allied to greater emphasis towards diversification of
White Young Greens services and skills into areas which
historically enjoy more attractive fee levels. Environmental,
rail, process engineering and project management are all
examples of areas enjoying significant growth.
As a consequence of our efforts over the last few months order
intake and order books are at record levels and additional
staff are now being recruited to meet this demand.
In summary, White Young Green now has in place a solid
foundation to develop the Group into a well structured multi-
discipline business. This in turn will allow us to fully
exploit opportunities for growth both in the UK and
internationally. I look forward to giving you a further
update on our progress at the time of the Companys interims
in the Spring."
