ITG reaches 300,000 dial up customers.
ITG (AIM: ITH LN), through its subsidiaries, GX Networks and Global
Internet, is the UK's largest independent Internet Service Provider
('ISP') and is the subject of a recommended offer from Concentric
Networks Corporation in a transaction which currently values ITG at
approximately #154 million.
ITG today announced that it has reached an aggregate total of over
300,000 customers for its acclaimed Internet services, of whom
150,000 have been added in the last two months, with the highly
successful launch of a number of new services. These include
Waitrose.com, FreeNetName in the UK and The Music Factory and
Macintosh's MyWeb in the Netherlands.
In April of this year, ITG announced the launch of its Digital
Communities project to partner with retailers, media groups and brand
owners. This marked a significant shift from a retail to a wholesale
strategy for delivering quality Internet access. Today's numbers
demonstrate the success of this strategy.
Laurence Blackall, Chief Executive of ITG, commented:
'ITG's recent success in the high volume Internet access market is
based on two factors: firstly, we have demonstrated our ability to
manage large scale dial-up operations. Secondly, we have initiated a
number of important new partnerships and implemented a series of
innovative products, which provide both visibility and a distribution
channel. A combination of these factors, together with the high
standards of service we continue to provide, will ensure our
continued growth in this sector.'
