Cyan receives new lighting order from Chinese customer

Cyan (AIM:CYAN.L), the integrated system and software design company delivering mesh based flexible wireless solutions for utility metering and lighting control, announces that it has received a purchase order from its China lighting solutions distributor, Aska Technology Limited ("Aska").

This order is for 15,000 Cyan smart lighting control modules, for 15,000 street lights, as well as the associated licenses for Cyan's server software, with delivery to be complete before the end of the year.

In April 2014, Cyan signed a master distribution agreement with Aska to act as the distributor of Cyan's CyLux lighting solutions in the China market and provide first line support to end customers. This is the first volume order that they have secured and the CyLux enabled lamps are expected to be deployed across several locations in mainland China. The Directors hope this represents the starting point for significant deployments expected over the next two to three years.

In recent years the lighting market has been predominantly focussed on replacing traditional lamps, such as High Pressure Sodium (HPS) with energy efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps. However, the Company now understands the market is pursuing further cost savings enabled by intelligent lighting systems such as those developed by Cyan. Cyan's system, CyLux, delivers bi-directional communication to enable 'smart' functionality such as setting rules for energy saving cycles and demand management in addition to status data to further reduce maintenance costs.

John Cronin, Executive Chairman at Cyan, commented: "I am pleased to announce this new order for Cyan's lighting solutions in the China market. Smart lighting projects are just starting to be deployed across the world and we are delighted that our solution has been selected after an extended period of evaluation and pilots by the end customer."
