Substantial Shareholding

The Board has been notified under the provisions of the
Companies Act 1985 of the following holdings:

On 20 February 1998 Abingworth Ventures L.P. and L.P.B.
were interested in 2,295,072 ordinary shares representing 17.66 
per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.

On 23 February 1998 J R Williams and D Maddox were each
interested in 1,021,987 ordinary shares representing 7.86
per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.

On 23 February 1998 A E Pickard ceased to have a
notifiable interest in the issued share capital of the
Company.
