           JAZZ FM, PART OF MXR CONSORTIUM, WINS
                NORTH EAST DIGITAL LICENCE

Jazz fm, part of the MXR consortium, formed in July 2000 to
bid  for  regional  digital licences,  has  won  the  first
digital licence for the North East region.

The  consortium includes four of the UK's leading  regional
radio  operators, jazz fm, Chrysalis Group, Capital  Radio,
UBC  Media and Psion.  In addition, Ford UK recently joined
the consortium.

Commenting  on  the  licence win,  Richard  Wheatly,  Chief
Executive of jazz fm, said:  "This is wonderful  news.   It
is   a   further  step  in  our  plans  to  increase   jazz
listenership by extending it into as many regional areas as
possible.   Digital radio, embracing as it does  new  radio
technology,  presents jazz fm with an ideal opportunity  to
support  the  new technology as we know that our  listeners
will be among the first to adopt it."
