Bandt plc - ('the Company') - Notifiable Interest

The Company has today been advised that with effect from 28
April 1999, M&G Group plc became a group company of
Prudential Corporation plc.  As a consequence, a number of
holdings previously notified by M&G Investment Management
Limited on behalf of the M&G Group plc, will now be included
within the total interests of the Prudential Corporation
group of companies.

The Prudential Corporation group of companies therefore now
holds an interest in 23,350,453 Ordinary shares of the
Company representing 16.6 per cent of the issued share
capital.
