Bandt plc - Director Transfer of Shares

The Company has been notified today that on 24 March 1999,
Mr J. S. Singleton a Director of Bandt plc transferred
80,000 Ordinary shares to his spouse, Mrs P Singleton for
nil consideration.

Following this transfer, Mr Singleton's beneficial interest
remains unchanged at 80,000 Ordinary shares representing
0.06 per cent of the issued share capital of Bandt plc.
