The Company has been notified today that Phillips & Drew
Life Limited now has an interest in 14,823,903 Ordinary 5p
shares representing 10.53 per cent of the issued share
capital of Bandt plc.

This notification forms part of the Phillips & Drew Fund
Management Limited interest of 26,519,370 Ordinary 5p shares
representing 18.83 per cent which was notified on 28 January
1999.

Phillips & Drew Fund Management Limited and Phillips & Drew
Life Limited are subsidiaries of UBS UK Holding Limited
which is also treated as having an interest in the above
shares.
