BKN announces strong early ratings for its Dork Hunters from Outer Space property
Dork Hunters from Outer Space has had a phenomenal launch on South Africa's premier channel SABC1, generating strong ratings against all
competition as set out below - announces BKN today.
Station Title Rating Share Viewers
SABC1 Dork Hunters 5.1 37.2 192,219
SABC2 Takalani Sesame 1.4 10.3 50,882
ETV Doodlebops 2.6 20.4 97,994
MNET Genie in the House 0.6 04.5 23,871
Lizzie McGuire
Ktv Power Edition
Source-TAMS (19 and 26 July two week averages for Kids 6-11)
By the 4th week or 09 August (the 3rd week was preempted for sports), the audience rating actually increased from 5.1 to 6.1 or 19.6%
and viewers increased likewise from 192,219 to 229,299 or a matching 19.6%. This growth in strong ratings from the first to fourth week is
encouraging.
These ratings reflect the same excellent debut of the kids' animation series on Clan/TVE in Spain earlier this year. As a result of
this, the channel has already scheduled the second season to be broadcast in the fall.
Peter Kwele, General Manager: Marketing and Communications at SABC Content Enterprises has expressed his delight with DORK HUNTERS'
launch saying "the ratings speak for themselves, DORK HUNTERS was clearly by far the highest share in its timeslot. South African kids love
comedy and have taken to the humour immediately".
Dork Hunters from Outer Space launches in the UK this weekend, (Sunday 17 August) at 07:40, on GMTV - "The Biggest Kids Weekend
Breakfast Show in the Autumn Term" (Sept - Dec 2007). The on air promotion heralding the debut has already begun.
Network Ten (Australia) will follow soon thereafter, launching in the first week of September at 07:00, with broadcasts in further major
international markets rolling out in 2009.
The master toy line created and distributed by Character Options, will be on shelf in the UK late October this year, supported with an
extensive pre-Christmas TV advertising campaign.
