                 Atlantic Telecom Group
Launch of high speed data services, atlantic-e.com and
         unmetered Internet and telephone calls

Atlantic Telecommunications Limited
("Atlantic" or "Atlantic Telecom"), a
wholly owned subsidiary of Atlantic
Telecom Group PLC, the innovative telecoms
operator, today announces the launch of its
first high speed data service and its
own Internet Service Provider (ISP),
atlantic-e.com.

Atlantic is also announcing a revolutionary
pricing tariff offering a subscription-
based fixed price service which, for the
residential market, is priced
at #49.99 a month (including VAT). This will
provide:

* Unmetered, "always on", high speed access to
  atlantice.com
* Unmetered fixed line, local and national
  voice calls throughout the UK
* Two voice lines and a high speed data line
  with an Ethernet connection

For the business market, the tariff is
variable based
on the number of lines taken, and starts
at #100 per month (excluding VAT) for
an equivalent two voice lines and a
high-speed data line with an Ethernet
connection offering unmetered, "always
on", high speed access to atlantic-e.com
and unmetered fixed line, local and
national voice calls throughout the UK.

Atlantic's high speed service, which will
initially be available in parts of the
City of Glasgow, will provide
customers with a data service at
bidirectional speeds of up to 2.4Mbs,
over 20 times faster than basic rate
ISDN.

Atlantic's high speed service will be
available throughout Atlantic's existing
networks by the end of 2000; however
all new networks beginning with
Manchester will feature the service
from network launch.

atlantic-e.com will initially be
available to all Atlantic's directly
connected customers with a highspeed
connection. Access will be extended to
all Atlantic customers in the near future.

The launch of Atlantic's high-speed
service will greatly improve Internet
access for its customers. Increasingly,
customers want to have the ability to
send and receive data at high speed, yet
the cost of conventional services has
acted as a barrier. Atlantic will now
be able to give these customers an
affordable, high quality service
which will revolutionise the speed at
which they can connect to the Internet
and transfer data.

atlantic-e.com has also been developed
to meet the requirement from customers
for Internet provision that adds value.
Atlantic's strategy is to see things
differently, and atlantic-e.com does
that with two
portals which open up the possibility of
community based Business-to-Business and
Business-to-Consumer trading.
In the coming months atlantic-e.com
will develop unique services which
will only be available to Atlantic
customers. In particular, Atlantic has
teamed up with AboveNet UK Ltd, a leading
provider of high performance Internet
capacity and reach, to provide the
following benefits:

* fast, high reliability access to the
largest number of producers of internet content
  around the world;
* a co-location service at its maximum resilience
  datacentre in Global Switch;
* direct access to what Atlantic believes is
the best performing, most scalable IP network in the
world with the most extensive set of peering
  relationships.

Atlantic's high-speed data service and atlantic-
e.com will be launched to selected customers
from tomorrow. The new subscription
based tariff, including unmetered
voice calls, will be available from June
1st 2000.

Graham J Duncan, Executive Chairman
of Atlantic Telecom, said:

"Today's moves underline our innovative
approach to the market with ground-
breaking services and features which will
provide significant benefits to all our
customers, whether businesses or
residential.

We have always believed that charging
customers for the length of their phone
calls or for how far away they are
calling will become unsustainable. The
introduction of our subscription-based
tariff combined with the removal of
distance-based charging within the fixed
line UK market goes a long way to
achieving the tariff model for the new
century."
