--Anglo American PLC plans to spin out its internal venture capital business so it can raise funds to invest in hydrogen technologies and boost demand for platinum, the Financial Times reports.

--Anglo American Platinum Ltd. Chief Executive Chris Griffith told the Financial Times the spinoff will let the new business access outside investors and take stakes in hydrogen start-ups.

--Platinum miners are looking at hydrogen fuel cells, which combine hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity, heat and water as the next source of demand for the metal, the Financial Times reports.
