Amtel-Vredestein Opens 2 Billion Rouble LOC With Sberbank
Additional lines of credit with BSGV and other borrowings
confirm lender confidence in the Russian tyre leader
Moscow, Russia, - Amtel-Vredestein N.V, (LSE; AMV), a leading European tyre
producer and Russia's largest manufacturer of passenger car tyres announced
today that it has secured a new line of credit (LOC) with Russia's largest bank,
Sberbank.
Through its Russian subsidiary, LLC Amtel-Chernozemye, the company secured a 2
billion rouble (approximately $77.6 million) LOC with Sberbank for a period of
18 months at 9.5%. An additional 400 million rouble LOC (approximately $15.5
million) has been approved by Banque Societe Generale Vostok (BSGV) for twelve
months at a variable MosIBOR overnight rate plus three percent.
These lines of credit are expected to be used primarily as a reserve in the
event that cash flow and other instruments are insufficient to replace more
expensive and/or shorter term debt scheduled to mature later this year -
including a credit linked note (CLN) which expires on 30 June. Continued
borrowing at favourable rates confirms confidence in Amtel-Vredestein by
lenders and assures investors that the company's cash position is secure.
Management anticipates that the company's debt will near its inflection point as
it completes its investment program later this year and begins to reap the
benefits of its modernization and expansion plan. Subject to its annual
audit, Amtel-Vredestein expects its 2006 results to be consistent with guidance
presented last November.
