Meaningful Use Program Data Indicates Merge is the Industry Leader for Radiologists
September 19 2013 - 7:00AM
Merge Healthcare Incorporated (Nasdaq:MRGE), a leading provider of
clinical systems and innovations that seek to transform healthcare,
today announced that it is the most widely used Certified
Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT) by radiologists
according to data compiled by the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services (HHS).
As of July 2013, more than 75 different CEHRT solutions were
used for MU attestations by radiologists. Among the 10 most widely
used CEHRT solutions, which account for 72 percent of MU radiology
attestations, Merge is the leading solution.
"We were delighted to see the data from HHS recognize Merge RIS™
as the leader in radiology MU attestations. Combined with the
recent recognition as 'Best in Interoperability' from Frost &
Sullivan and IHS ranking Merge's iConnect® Enterprise Archive as
the #1 vendor-neutral archive, we are confident our solutions are
providing radiologists and their networks with the tools they need
to succeed in today's market," said Justin Dearborn, CEO of Merge.
"Our ranking is a direct reflection of Merge's commitment to the
industry and our forward-thinking approach to imaging and data
management."
Merge began its commitment to the MU program in 2011 by
transforming Merge RIS to be a complete, certified EHR as defined
by the program measures. This process entailed expanding Merge RIS
in such areas as clinical decision support and Clinical Quality
Measures, while retaining core radiology clinical workflow.
Customers began using Merge RIS to successfully report on MU that
same year. Subsequently, Merge has worked with users to improve
usability, teach others and exchange best practices so that the
adoption of MU in radiology can continue efficiently.
"Meaningful Use attestation is a necessity in radiology, and
leveraging Merge has helped make the process easy on our practice,
ensuring that our radiologists qualify to receive their full
incentives," said Randy Hicks, MD, MBA, radiologist and owner of
Radiology Medical Imaging (RMI). "With Merge, RMI now has a global
view of our network, receives priority referrals from network
physicians and has quick access to data to ensure higher quality
care and accurate reimbursement."
As the MU program moves into new measures and certification
requirements in 2014, Merge continues to invest and develop
solutions that will help radiology providers achieve success. In
particular, MU Stage 2 contains new measures that provide
guidelines for the ordering of imaging tests, and the incorporation
of imaging reports and images into the EHR. In addition to Merge
RIS, Merge has committed to certifying many of its imaging
solutions in order to help customers achieve these measures.
Furthermore, Merge's new iConnect Network allows imaging centers to
share imaging information with referring physicians and hospitals
that are connected to Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) or EHR
networks. This allows customers to not only support MU Stage 2
requirements, but also strengthen their relationships with
referring physicians.
