Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: GWG)(OTCQX: GWMGF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Mohamed Madhi to its Advisory Board, effective immediately.

Mr. Madhi is currently the Chairman of Areva South Africa, a position he has held since July 2009. Prior to his role with Areva South Africa, he served as Chief Executive of Safika Resources, a South African holding company focused on mineral exploration and mining and Chairman of CKS Investments (Pty) Ltd.

Mr. Madhi has many years of experience in the mining, energy and telecommunications industries. He has also held executive positions at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research ("CSIR") the largest research organization in Africa, Eskom, the largest electricity utility in Africa as well as at Harmony Gold where he was responsible for Global Strategy and Diversification. He was Head of the Presidential Task Team on Y2K 1998 during President Mandela's term of office; Commissioner on the Global Infrastructure Commission; and Special Advisor to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa ("UNECA").

Mr. Madhi received his Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town. In addition he holds an MBA from Newport University and a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
