The Biomass Recovery Process used by CleanTech Biofuels, Inc. (Other OTC: CLTH), an early stage provider of technology to clean and separate cellulosic biomass from municipal solid waste for energy production, has been selected by the County Commission and Public Works Authority of Pawnee County, Oklahoma for implementation at a proposed recycling and biomass recovery facility to be constructed in Pawnee County.

The Pawnee County Commission and the Pawnee Public Works Authority have both adopted resolutions to purse the possibility of bringing the Biomass Recovery Process to an existing quarry site in the County. The proposed facility will sit on 40,000 square feet of enclosed space and initially process up to 600 tons of municipal waste per day. This facility will be unique, reducing landfill consumption by 85 percent, producing renewable energy, being profitable, completely enclosed like other manufacturing facilities, and generating its own energy to operate, according to Dale Vance, the Pawnee County Commissioner who is leading the effort to implement a comprehensive recycling and recovery program.

At a recent special meeting of the Pawnee Board of County Commissioners, Vance explained that he had spoken to lawmakers about the possibility of receiving funding for the facility. According to Vance, U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe, U.S. Congressman Frank Lucas, State Representative Rex Duncan, and Oklahoma Secretary of State Susan Savage are all in favor of the project.

The Pawnee Public Works Authority has engaged engineering consultant Craig Treiber to begin the project’s engineering and technology evaluation. Treiber is working with CleanTech Biofuels to design the initial system for the facility and determine its ultimate cost. Treiber also will work on obtaining grants and permits as well as all other aspects of getting the project off the ground.

CleanTech CEO Edward Hennessey said, “Our Biomass Recovery Process will enable the County to create a biomass recovery and recycling infrastructure that can be used to provide feedstock for energy production for a number of existing and developing alternative energy technologies. With high traditional fuel prices, decreasing land availability and increasing political support for domestically produced energy, our Biomass Recovery Process offers a compelling solution. We can reduce landfill disposal by 80-90 percent and the biomass we recover from municipal waste can be used to produce renewable energy.

“In a market where energy demand continues to grow and the cost of handling waste continues to increase, we are excited that Pawnee County is proactively seeking to address these issues in economically and environmentally responsible ways. We look forward to working with Craig Treiber to design and implement our Biomass Recovery Process in Pawnee County.”

About CleanTech Biofuels

CleanTech Biofuels, Inc. is an early stage commercial company with technology that the Company believes is capable of converting municipal solid waste into energy products. By using the existing infrastructure for municipal solid waste collection and disposal to collect biomass at low or possibly negative feedstock cost, the Company expects to achieve profitability quickly relative to other alternative energy producers who must develop their infrastructure to collect and transport more expensive feedstocks such as sugar cane, corn, switchgrass, wood waste, corn stover, or other products before their technologies are able to be commercialized.
