Airbus SE said Thursday that its subsidiary SURVEY Copter has
signed a contract with France's directorate general of armaments to
provide drone systems for French Navy ships.
The European plane maker said the first deliveries of the 11
Aliaca fixed-wing drone systems are expected in 2021, but didn't
disclose the financial details of the deal.
Airbus said the aircraft systems enable missions of up to 3
hours over a 50-kilometer range and can operate in severe
environmental conditions. It added that they allow for multiple
operations including tactical analysis, control of illegal maritime
activity, search and rescue, traffic monitoring, pollution
detection and coastal surveillance.
