Torquay Oil Corp. (TSX VENTURE:TOC.A) (TSX VENTURE:TOC.B) ("Torquay" or the
"Company") announces that as a result of a lightning strike during a severe
thunder storm, a fire occurred at its Viewfield battery August 2, 2012.
Lightning struck a storage tank and consequently damage was limited to the tank
farm. No one was injured in the mishap. Site clean-up and reconstruction is
under way with the facility expected to be fully operational by mid September.
Approximately 140 boe/d of production is currently shut-in while repairs are
completed. Cashflow is not expected to be materially affected as Torquay has
business interruption insurance in place.
Torquay would like to thank the Stoughton Fire Department, RCMP, Classic Vacuum
Truck Ltd. and our field staff who responded immediately and dealt with the fire
at our facility. The Company also wishes to thank Mustang Vacuum Service Inc.,
Brady Oilfield Services, Site Energy Services and MWH Canada Inc. for their
efforts in a quick clean-up of the site.
